You do not need to be super fit to climb Ben Nevis, or be a hillwalker, as our pace will be gentle with lots of stops so that you can look around, eat, take photos and really enjoy the experience of climbing Britain’s highest mountain. The views are superb even from quite low level.
We have accompanied many groups of friends, workmates, as well as groups of individuals on this mountain, all having their own reasons for being there. Some are raising money for charity, many have it on their bucket list. One group of ladies climbed it as their first experience of hillwalking. For one 72 year old lady it was the last of the National 3 Peaks. Another lady wanted to do something special for her 50th birthday with friends and chose to climb Ben Nevis with us.
You will not need any special equipment for this in summer and as long as you have adequate clothing, footwear, food and drink along with a rucksack to carry it in you will be fine. Our kit list is quite helpful in this.
For winter, there is more to think about in terms of what to have with you, timings and skills but again our kit list will help and equipment such as suitable boots, crampons and ice axe can be hired. We will coach the necessary skills as we progress up the mountain.
One group we took in winter included a Zumba teacher who had us all doing a routine at the summit. It was the perfect way to celebrate a 70th birthday for one man when he climbed the Ben in full winter conditions!
